Age Verification
This page is for parents, guardians and adult players. It applies to anyone who visits Coquitlam Casino, creates an account or plays in the Lobby, Live Casino or Jackpots, on any device. It forms part of our Terms of Use.
A. Adults aged 19+ only
Only adults aged 19+ may use Coquitlam Casino. Anyone below that age is barred from registering, depositing, playing or claiming Promotions, and no adult may open an account for a younger person or share one with them.
We accept only players located where local law allows online play, and we comply with Canadian rules on age verification, identity checks and anti-money laundering. Our marketing targets adults only.
B. Parental controls and filtering tools
Families can reduce the chance of a child reaching gambling sites by using the controls already built into most devices and networks. We suggest:
- turning on parental controls in your phone, tablet or computer operating system, with a separate passcode
- using app store age classification settings so gambling apps cannot be installed or opened
- switching on content filters in your browser, home router or internet service settings
- installing blocking software such as Gamban / GamBlock, which blocks gambling sites and apps across devices
These tools work best together and should be checked from time to time as children grow and devices change.
C. If we find a minor on an account
If we suspect that a person under 19 is using an account, we freeze it at once and start an investigation. Where underage use is confirmed:
- the account is closed permanently
- all wagers are treated as void and winnings are forfeited
- deposits are returned to the payment method originally used, where the law allows
- any bonus or Coquitlam Rewards balance is removed
An adult account holder who let a minor play is in breach of our Terms of Use and also loses the account. When appropriate, we pass information to the relevant authorities.
D. How we check age
Age verification starts when you enter your date of birth at sign-up and continues throughout the life of your account.
- Before your first deposit, we verify your home address, full name and date of birth electronically against trusted data sources, and we confirm that online play is lawful where you are.
- If the electronic check is inconclusive, we request government-issued Canadian photo ID, for example a passport or a driver's licence.
- Later checks can follow at any point, including at withdrawal or if account activity, messages or payment details suggest the player may be younger than stated.
We accept deposits only after these checks are finished. The documents we ask for, and how we handle them, are described on our Verification and AML page and in Your Privacy.
E. Shared devices and protecting minors
In many homes, children use the same phones, tablets and laptops as adults. If you play at Coquitlam Casino on a device children can reach, please:
- always log out when you finish a session instead of just closing the window
- never let a browser or app save your password
- set up separate user profiles, with your own protected by a passcode
- lock the screen whenever the device is left unattended
- keep cards, e-wallet logins and Paysafecard vouchers out of children's reach
Watch for signs that a young person may be gambling online, such as unexplained card charges, requests for prepaid vouchers, or secrecy around a device. Talk openly with children about why gambling is restricted to adults.
Our Cookie Policy explains how we remember your login on a device, and how to clear that information so the next user starts signed out.
